W. Michael “Mike” Beverly was named the Lea County Manager on August 8, 2008. His grandfather first came to Lea County in 1888 as a 16 year old open range cowboy. Other relatives soon followed and settled in the county. Degrees include a high school diploma from Lovington High School; a B.S. from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas; and an MBA from the University of Dallas. He has received his Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and Certified Professional Direct Marketer (PDM) certifications; along with advanced studies at Texas A&M, Rice University, the University of Southern California, Columbia University, the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the Wharton School of Business.

Mike’s philosophy is that “the citizens of Lea County are the business and the business is the citizens of Lea County.” He believes in working with the county staff to provide the best possible service to all at the lowest possible cost. He enjoys working with people and is active in many community organizations throughout the county.

Mike and his wife of 38 years, Karen, have two grown children and one grandchild.
